Commentary: Constructing Creative AppropriationsKobe University, Japan, jm-morioka{at}ex.biwa.ne.jp I explore the possibility of the notion of space appropriations from the viewpoint of joint meaning-making processes. Especially worthy of note are unknown hidden appropriations, that is, those that are transitory and constructed by actions and practices. How does the action of boundary-making have a potentiality for new connections? Three viewpoints are presented in relation to this theme: the relationships between abduction and change processes; second, the generation of differences by means of the appropriations; and, third, the Japanese concept `ma', which is a chronotopic boundary zone in which different systems can co-exist. The appropriations have the possibility to construct dialogue and to create a link between family members and different living systems, and to mediate between different generations.
