The Seductive Danger of Visual Metaphors: Its About TimeCarleton University, Canada Two articles in this journal (Rudolph, 2006; Yamada & Kato, 2006) courageously attempt to consider new ways to conceive of time in relation to human development, presenting several visual metaphors to make their case. I explore some of the confounds of these metaphors, and suggest why practical research techniques and examples derived from the metaphors are needed as demonstrations of their utility
